RANDOM THOUGHTS AS WE HEAD TO NOVEMBER

HAVE FAITH IN THE FALCONS…PLEASE!

I guaranteed a Falcons victory last week on the show. I liked the matchup with the Packers and knew that this was an opponent who has been losing big games for a while now. It’s not 2010. I thought it would be a more comfortable victory, but I’ll take it.

What floors me is the way some Falcons fans reacted all day yesterday. The Falcons fell behind in the game and the emails started, 22 of them in total! I’m not even counting the people who were tweeting me about it. Even my peers in sports talk radio started with the “same old Falcons” “it’s 2015 all over again” garbage. Last years team is NOT this years. The Falcons now have a roster that is still evolving, but full of potential upside. The defense is not good enough, but the offense has been special.

Before the season, Matt Ryan speculated this could be a 30 point per game offense and I scoffed. I believed that averaging 26 points would be an optimistic goal. Good for them, at 5-3 they have navigated a difficult schedule and set themselves up for success. It’s not over if they beat Tampa on Thursday, but it will be close.

My request to some of the Falcons faithful, instead of trying to troll me because YOU don’t believe in YOUR team just enjoy the games!

GEORGIA FOOTBALL IS IN A TAILSPIN

Unlike others, you know my rule about coaches in football. I’m not going to judge them on their first season. It’s not a total gimme season, but I try not to over react. This freshman year for Kirby Smart is certainly testing my patience.

The talent is very thin in the senior and junior classes. The losses and the way they have come about is quickly becoming unacceptable. Fans are growing restless. This week vs Kentucky now becomes a scary proposition. If the Dawgs lose this one, they have to beat Auburn or Georgia Tech to be 6-6. The heat will REALLY be on if they lose. If there was ever a must win, this is it.
