680 THE FAN, ATLANTA – Good news continues to roll in when it comes to the hopeful recovery from COVID-19. We look like we’re on the right path to a college football season and a chance to see Georgia go ‘Between The Hedges.’

In the meantime, these are just a few suggestions of ways to pass your time and re-live that special 2017 Bulldogs season. It started with a special trip to Notre Dame and was capped off with a run to the College Football Playoff.

  1. The Rose Bowl: Georgia vs. Oklahoma – This College Football Playoff semifinal game was one for the ages. It was perfect that Georgia fans would make this once in a lifetime trip out to Los Angeles for this chance to advance towards winning the program’s third national championship. After all, the Rose Bowl is pretty much the Augusta National of college football venues. This game started off shaky, with the Sooners getting out to a lead that swelled to as much as 31-14 in the second quarter. A last second Rodrigo Blankenship 55 yard field goal sent the Dawgs to the locker room with the sense of momentum. The final 30 minutes of regulation proved that feeling to be true. Then, the magic continued in overtime. Lorenzo Carter leaping through the air to block OU’s go-ahead field goal attempt in the second overtime. Then, it was Sony Michel around the left side of the offensive line and a 27 yard scamper to history. Dawgs win 54-48 and would soon get back on a plane for a chance to win the national title at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
  2. SEC Championship Game: Georgia vs. Auburn – It looked like it was heading towards a repeat of the Bulldogs late season trip to Jordan-Hare Stadium at the start of the game. But, Georgia would soon turn the tables on Jarrett Stidham, Gus Malzahn and crew. The UGA defense held Auburn to just 114 rushing yards as a team, after giving up 237 yards in their lone regular season loss. The game looked like it was in Georgia’s control, with over 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter and a 21-7 lead. But, then freshman running back D’Andre Swift found a running lane and 64 yards later an almost certain SEC Championship Game trophy coming back to Athens.
  3. Week 2: Georgia at Notre Dame It was the whole weekend that made this trip so special. Chuck and Chernoff doing their show from a Wrigleyville Bar and the Georgia fan takeover of Wrigley Field for that Friday night Cubs game to set the tone. Then, it was the drive to South Bend, Indiana for the game. The tailgating, the scene outside Notre Dame Stadium and then the views inside the venue were almost too good to be true. The crowd was overwhelmingly clad in red and black. It was the first start of Jake Fromm’s career. A Rodrigo Blankenship go-ahead 3 yard field goal to give UGA a 20-19 lead in the fourth quarter. Then, it was outside linebacker Davin Bellamy rushing past Irish left tackle Mike McGlinchey to sack quarterback Brandon Wimbush and force a first down fumble. His pass rushing partner Lorenzo Carter landed on the football and the win was secured. All of the sudden, Georgia made Notre Dame sound like Sanford Stadium north with the roar of the fans.
  4. Week 9: Georgia vs. Florida – Total domination! 42-7 was the final. Georgia’s defense sacked Gator quarterback Feleipe Franks five times. A late Florida touchdown was the only thing that kept them from getting shut out. It was also Jim McElwain’s final game as the UF head coach. It was called a mutual parting of ways between McElwain and Florida. But, Georgia fans can also lay claim to saying we got your coach fired and not much can be said in saying that’s not true.
  5. Week 5: Georgia at Tennessee – 41-0! Just a year before, Georgia was on the wrong side of the Volunteers Hail Mary touchdown from Joshua Dobbs to Jauan Jennings. The last time UGA was on Rocky Top, they saw Nick Chubb’s career almost come to an end. This one was never in doubt and the Dawgs proved they were way ahead of Tennessee as a program.

Honorable mentions – Week 4 Mississippi State at Georgia and Week 1 Appalachian State at Georgia. It was the start of the Jake Fromm era.
