BUCK BELUE
ATLANTA, Ga – This time the Bulldogs got the job done, at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Last year against Texas, it wasn’t any fun at all. Against Baylor, the ‘Dogs kicked some butt!

Receiver George Pickens delivered an MVP performance! Jake Fromm got him the ball early and often, against a Bears coverage plan that will never be described as smart. Pickens was taking advantage of soft zone early in the game. Fromm went to him immediately and got some big plays. The Bears staff didn’t adjust until halftime. Anyway, George has polished up his skill set during his freshman season and now looks like the new Go-To-Guy in 2020.

Both offensive tackles were missing in the Sugar Bowl, but Cade Mays and Jamaree Salyer stepped in and played strong football. In fact, go ahead and pencil those two dudes in for 2020 and don’t expect to see a lot of drop-off. Basically, these two guys are legit.

Speaking of legit, Zamir White took over at running back and ran tough (18-92/1 TD). A couple of times he was one step away from busting a big run. Its been a long road back for this young man (two knee injuries), but he’s ready to be the lead dog in 2020. Kenny McIntosh flashed some skill too. Moving forward, Georgia looks good at running back.

On defense, Georgia dominated most of the game and there were some young players helping lead the way.

Lewis Cine stepped in Reed’s safety spot and had 6 tackles. Travon Walker’s QB hit looked legal to me and he impacted the game with 3 tackles and a sack. Nolan Smith was mixing it up and Nakobe Dean played at a high level. Azeez Ojulari looked good and has quickly developed into a difference-maker off the edge.

This side of the ball is loaded up with young talent that is only going to get better! That is, if they can stay away from that disease Coach Smart was talking about postgame. The 2020 defense is looking elite.
So, what about Jake Fromm? Is he coming back? Is Jake off to the NFL?

The answer: I’m not sure. But I am sure of one thing. I totally respect Jake Fromm going all in on this season and the bowl game! Not one word spoken about the NFL. Impressive. It was all about UGA.

But right now, Jake Fromm is seriously taking a deep dive into the NFL decision. It looks like he’s the 4th rated QB in the 2020 draft. That could translate into being a late first round or 2nd round pick. Most guys would jump at that thought.
