From the scenic views to the great weather, the Legends had an appealing atmosphere. There was something for every fan in attendance.

Kids enjoyed the on-field amenities and fans loved the game presentation. Despite the Legends falling 28-12 to the Birmingham Iron, the home opener was well received.

“I appreciate the fans that were here,” Legends head coach Kevin Coyle said. “Hopefully, we can put on a performance that the town will be proud of moving forward. We want to fill the stadium full of Legends fans.”

Here are three takeaways from the Legends home debut.

Legends’ Fan Fest draws rave reviews

The Legends hosted an outdoor celebration for their fans prior to the game. The Legends Fan Fest was filled with fans outside the stadium. Seventeen vendors sold food and drinks for those in attendance. There was also a live band and a Yuengling section that served free adult beverages.

Fans had a blast. Several looked forward to the next event when the Legends return home following a road game against the Arizona Hotshots.

NFL stars in attendance

The Legends welcomed several NFL stars to Georgia State Stadium on Sunday. Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley was in attendance to support the team. Former UGA running back Keith Marshall and Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith were also in the house.

On the field, Michael Vick was the Legend of the Game and set the ball at first snap. Other stars also came out to see the Legends in action for the first time at home.

Great Weather = Exciting Game

Over the last week, Atlanta has dealt with constant rain. It forced players to practice in slippery conditions and altered some initial plans. However, Sunday provided a clear day that allowed for fans to enjoy a great game.

No umbrellas were needed as the stadium rocked. It was loud and fans were into the action. The Legends hope to get the same atmosphere in their next four home games.
