Is UNC A Positive Sign For Future Falcon Success, Braves’ Wins: Over / Under, Countdown to 4,000 B&K Shows, and the Buck And Kincade Classic is just around the corner!
A RECURRING STORYLINE
Themes in sports sometimes repeat themselves. Sometimes these story lines give you insight into the future. If you believe in those concepts, it might be very good news for the Atlanta Falcons.
Think of the last 12 months and we have 5 examples of heart breaking defeat. It is almost like dominoes. First, UNC was crushed by a last second shot by Villanova. Then the defending champion Warriors blew a 3-1 lead and lost the title to the Cavaliers. The Indians then jumped out to a 3-1 lead before falling to the Cubs. Alabama got out to a lead and was seconds away from another title before losing to Clemson. The Falcons closed it out by throwing away a 25 point lead with 17 minutes to play. I’m not sure that sports has ever seen such a series of staggering defeats.
Now we turn the clock back around to where it all began. North Carolina has made it all the way back to the National Championship Game. They have a chance to get back what they believe they lost. Now you have a rooting interest for Monday’s finale. The good karma may just get the Falcons back to the biggest stage of them all.
BRAVES BEGIN IN A NEW HOME
At the end of our Spring Training trip to Orlando I picked the Braves to win 80 games. After 5 weeks of games on Friday I adjusted my win total projection to 78. There was no reason for me to up the total after what was at best a very shaky Spring.
Buck adjusted his win total from 84 to 80. JChad went from 82 to 85. Spoiler alert! Chadwick always goes with his heart, not his head.
The number one goal for the 2017 Braves should be to create a home field advantage at new Suntrust Park. The quickest way to contention is by making yourself an imposing host. The Braves should target a 50 win season at home. I know that is an aggressive goal, but it would be a start towards making 2018 a season of higher expectations.
COUNTDOWN TO BUCK AND KINCADE 4,000
On Tuesday we get the 3,920th edition of “Buck and Kincade”. Later this summer, we will start the countdown to our 4,000th edition which should be around the start of football season.
