Congratulations to Team Kincade!

B&K ClassicChevronIt was an impressive performance, in the 15th Annual Buck & Kincade Classic: going -16, from the tips with no mulligans. Wow! I tip my cap to that! Team Belue finished two shots back at -14 and that was a good score, with challenging pin placements all over the Legacy Lanier layout.

We started fast, with 4 straight birdies on 1-2-3-4. I even helped, by rolling in a 25 footer, putting last on #2. Our downfall was 3 straight pars on 5-6-7. We shot 30 (-6) on the front & 28 on the back (-8). Birdied every hole but #14 (the best hole on the course). Some days your best just isn’t good enough.

In a strange way, it was kind of cool to see such joy on Kincade’s face. Is that hard to believe? Yes, I’ve rubbed it in probably too much during the 15 years of the tournament. I’ll admit it, but I always took his team seriously. Our 14-year non-losing streak did have a few close calls. This was Kincade’s first legit win. Again, congratulations!I do feel bad for Team Belue! David Denham, Mitch Donald & David Potts all played great! These (3) former UGA golfers played tough. Denham hit some big drives & made a bunch of big birdie putts. Potts and Donald hit some awesome approach shots!I let them down. Didn’t play my best. My practice habits were not the best entering this event and it showed. I only contributed 3-4 shots. I’ve got to take the blame and man up. Next June, I’ve got to play better.

Until then, I’m expecting to hear a lot about Team Kincade’s performance. That’s only fair. I guess we can let him have one every 15 years!

Thanks to all of you who came out in support of our event! We are both so proud to have our name on this tournament, but so many in the 680 family work overtime to make this event successful. It’s a source of pride to see our colleagues get behind the event. Legacy Lanier Pro Brian Conley & his staff were outstanding! The sponsors like Georgia United Credit Union, PGA Superstore & Infiniti of Gwinnett stepped up. We even had the excitement of a hole-in-one boat giveaway by Marine Max!

It turned out to be KIncade’s year in 2016! We’ll endure and regroup. I’ll rededicate myself to the game and be back to recapture the title next June. But if the truth be told, this is all about having some fun with our listeners and raising some money for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta! Thanks for being a part of it. Hope to see you come out for the 16th version next June.
