IT ENGINEER

Scope

The IT Engineer is primarily responsible for supporting and maintaining mission critical audio and information technology equipment in a broadcast environment. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, and have the ability to learn new duties and skills quickly.

General Responsibilities

·         Reports directly to the Chief Engineer.

·         Maintains station IT operation through preventative and corrective maintenance

·         Establishes and follows routine maintenance procedures and schedules for all broadcast equipment

·         Installs and performs maintenance on servers, workstations, and all other IP based components

·         Assist with maintenance of transmitters, antennas, and other RF transmission equipment.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

·         Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with coworkers on a daily basis with a strong focus and genuine desire to assist.

·         Interact with management and staff at all levels

·         Ability to multi-task, handle pressures and deadlines, and skills in prioritizing

·         Ability to both learn and support industry-specific computer programs

·         Ability to maintain and repair computer and server equipment, including setting up computers and peripherals, and replacing internal components such as memory and hard drives

·         Occasional travel on both scheduled and emergency basis

·         Familiarity with IP-based and analog telephone systems, including POTS and ISDN

·         Experience with network equipment, including firewalls, routers, and managed network switches

·         Working understanding of Ethernet and TCP/IP (hardware, software, protocols, and theory).

·         Familiarity with basic concepts of computer and network security

·         Computer literacy in applicable software packages (Microsoft OS and Office Suite, OpX audio automation, etc.)

·         Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Windows security policies, and logon scripts

·         Experience with both Android and iOS smart phones and tablets

·         Knowledge of electrical systems, UPS, and standby generators 

Education and Licensing Requirements

·         Must possess valid state drivers license

·         Must provide required proof of personal vehicle insurance

·         Associates or technical degree in Information Technology or related field; or equivalent level of experience

Physical Requirements

·         May require lifting or moving up to 75 lbs

·         May require climbing ladders and working on elevated surfaces (e.g. rooftops)

·         The ability to respond overnights and on weekends to emergencies is a requirement of this position.

This is an entry-level position in the Marketing/Promotions/Events department that involves assisting with all administrative functions of radio promotions, executing on-site station appearances, and assisting with coordination of station events.
