The Only Lesson from Penn State

There was no winner in the Jerry Sandusky trial.

I watched in horror as the verdict became public. I was sick to my stomach at the thought of people cheering and celebrating the immenent death of the tickle monster. We all watched him in his brown corduroy jacket get into the backseat of that cop car, and get carted off to prison.

8 men had the courage to come forward, there's got to be countless more that hid that deep dark secret.

I said many times, this was not a sports story, but I do believe that we sports fans and you sports parents should learn a great lesson. The most successful pedafiles don't wear t-shirts that say "I rape little boys" . They're not in a red outfit with horns and a pitchfork. They come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes they are coaches.

They are charming. They are convincing. They are monsters.

That's the lesson. Just because someone has been given authority over your kids, whethere it's at church, boy scout meetings, camp, or in a locker room shower, it doesn't mean they are moral, wonderful role models.

Jerry Sandusky just taught us that.
