Week 2: Rude Awakening Selection Committee results

Sep 18, 2013 -- 12:16pm
Every Tuesday morning at 7:30am, The Rude Awakening Selection Committee will convene to determine the top 4 college football teams in the country. We will continue this ridiculous exercise throughout the college football season. Our job will be to parody the enormous responsibility of the actual selection committee in 2014. Your mission should you decide to accept it is to be the voice of the fan. Below, pick your 4 top teams in the country. Don't worry about the bowl games yet...
Each week we will also invite a member of one of the other shows on 680 The Fan to submit their top 4.

Starting after the 2014 regular season, the selection committee will be responsible for selecting the four teams for the College Football Playoff semifinals along with the other teams that will participate in the four New Year's Eve and New Year's Day major bowls.

The committee also will be responsible for pairing the teams in the four New Year's bowl games that are not hosting the national semifinals.

The first semifinals will be at the Rose and Sugar bowls on Jan. 1, 2015. The first College Football Playoff championship will be Jan. 12, 2015, at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Final Rude Awakening Selection Result after week 2 (based on 9/7/13 weekend results)

1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. Clemson
4. Ohio State & Michigan (tied) based on a coin flip and an ugly near-loss to Akron, Michigan's stock dropped in the minds of the committee members. Therefore, if the Championship series were to begin now, Ohio State would be #4 and face Alabama.

We'll do it again on Tuesday morning at 7:30am...Will need a fan to play along, who wants to do it?
