Falcons, Bulldogs & Braves Win!

Sep 10, 2012 -- 8:16am

Pretty nice weekend, uh? The home teams got it done. Falcons broke that nasty season-opening road loss trend. Bulldogs hunkered down on Mizzou. And the Braves got the bats going in the big apple. Nice. Real nice!

The "new" Falcons have that look of a real contender. Sure, Nolan's defense needs to tighten up, but that 2nd half performance made most of us feel better. Sure is nice to have 3 CB's who can play ball. And Abraham looks like he can have a big season too. In fact, Abe put the Chiefs away, with that hit on Cassel, which forced a fumble...and extended the lead to 34-17. Also, where di that Nicolas performance come from? Dude had 12 tackles and a pick!

Really liked seeing the Falcons offense start fast twice. Matt Ryan and the boys landed a big right hand to the jaw, with a game-opening/season-opening 12-play, 80 yard TD drive. And after the defense stuffed the Chiefs to start the 2nd half, the offense went 9-plays, 66 yards for a TD.

   Bring on Peyton Manning, right?

Georgia got in an SEC brawl out in Missouri, but put them away with a dominant 4th quarter. Murray delivered. Aaron was under pressure most of the night, but stood strong, made good decisions and made some impressive throws. The star was All-American LB Jarvis Jones, who put on a memorable show!

Jarvis Jones was the man! The impact: 9 tackles, 2 sacks, a forced fumble and an interception! And Mizzou game-planned all off-season for him. Impressive.

Old-Man Football handed out a tough lesson to the Tigers...got to play all 4 quarters in the SEC!

Meanwhile, the Braves swept the Mets in the big apple. Brian McCann and Dan Uggla busted out the whooping stick. Brian & Dan went a combined 11-20 in the series sweep...with 3 HR, 3 doubles, 7 RBI and 9 runs scored. With the outstanding pitching they are getting now, getting McCann & Uggla going would make this team a force heading into the postseason.

   Nice weekend, uh?
