Hope we're going to see you at the Buck & Kincade Classic, at Legacy on Lanier GC next Friday. It's going to be another fun golf tournament and it's for an awesome cause (Children's Healthcare of Atlanta).
Played a practice round at Legacy yesterday, in preperation for the TEAM BELUE vs. TEAM KINCADE death match. Obviously, out there looking for an edge. Sight lines and carries. Breaks in putts. That kind of thing.
Legacy on Lanier GC is in super shape. Fairways are plush. Greens are firm, which makes it tough to get close to some of the tournament pin placements. Got to have the right yardages on approach shots. Really need to land the ball short of these pins, right now, in order to get it close.
Greens are putting smooth. Got a report yesterday that the staff have plans to firm it up even more for the B&K Classic event. They had to be rolling close to 11 on the stimpmeter yesterday.
The wrap-a-round-the-lake, Par 4 #3 still has sharp teeth. It's a 285 carry, from the back tees and the green is guarded by a long trap in front. Smart to bust a 3-metal over the pair of fairway bunkers, which leaves you a wedge to the green and a birdie opportunity.
My scouting report believes the Par 5 #6 will be a swing hole. From the tips, you can bust the driver 300-plus, but that's where the problems start. Banging a 3-metal into a cliff hanger green is living on the edge. Might be smart to lay-up to a good number and go at the pin with a wedge. but that's delicate too. Eagle here is almost impossible. Birdie is a good score.
Got to go low to win this event. Be aggressive. Be bold. Bring the A-game.
