National signing day has come and gone. The Bulldogs secured another impressive class. ESPN had the 'Dogs class ranked #5. That's good work.
Could the 'Dogs have closed more impressively? Sure. Would have been huge to lure in a couple more OL prospects. But you wish those other guys well and move on quickly.
The drama surrounding Josh Harvey-Clemons ended well. Coach Mike Bobo manilulated that situation in A+ fashion. He didn't push. Gave the young man some space and encouragement. And that worked like a charm. It's big to finally get a player from Lowndes High. Mike is one of CFs top recruiters.
Todd Grantham has turned out to be an outstanding recruiter too. He convinced an impressive group if guys that play in the Front 7 to come join his defense. The list: Harvey-Clemons, Jenkins, Taylor, Dawson, Floyd and Deloach. Grantham did an outstanding job.
Georgia addressed some big needs. Got two specialists (Morgan & Barber). Landed 2 highly rated RBs (Marshall & Gurley). Loaded up on Front 7 guys on defense (see above). And got a 5-star OT in John Theus. Beard and Pyke are big OL prospects too.
Not much time to enjoy the class though. Richt had to kick 3 young guys off the team. That hurts. Nick Marshall might have been a star at CB. Guess that opens up an opportunity for someone else. Next man up.
Can't hardly wait to get over and see some of spring practice. My focus: the O-Line. That's the big key to this team in 2012. Spots are open. Got to figure Burnette, Gates and Lee have a shot to start at 3 of the 5 spots. They are experienced. Beard has a shot to step right in and play. Kolton Houston and Austin Long are upperclassmen that should compete for PT. Look forward to evaluating the young dudes: Watts Danzler, Xzavier Ward, and Zach Debell.
Should be interesting.
